Matriva Deploys Sanctions and PEP Screening Across All User Sign-ups and Property Registrations
Automated screening against UK and global sanctions lists and politically exposed persons databases runs on every new user and property, flagging matches for review
"Screening every sign-up against sanctions and PEP lists isn't just good practice, it's a baseline for a trustworthy rental market."

Matriva has deployed automated sanctions and politically exposed persons (PEP) screening across its entire platform, running checks against UK and global sanctions lists and PEP databases on every new user sign-up, tenant application and property registration.
The screening runs automatically in the background whenever a new user registers, a tenant submits a referencing application, or a new property is added to the platform. Matches are flagged for admin review, and the platform maintains a full audit trail of every screen for compliance record-keeping.
"Property is one of the largest sectors for money laundering in the UK, and the rental market has historically had very little screening infrastructure," said Mike Georgeson. "We're building sanctions and PEP screening into the fabric of the platform, so every landlord and agent on Matriva has this protection by default, without having to think about it."
The screening covers:
- UK HM Treasury consolidated sanctions list
- UN, EU and US OFAC sanctions lists
- Politically exposed persons databases, covering domestic and international PEPs
- Continuous monitoring, with re-screening triggered on key events such as new tenancy creation
Flagged matches are reviewed by Matriva's compliance team before any action is taken, and the platform records the outcome of each review for audit purposes. The screening is included with all Matriva subscriptions at no additional cost.
